Passion Week: Tuesday, March 31, AD 33

On the way back into the city the disciples see the fig tree withered to the roots. Jesus takes the opportunity to teach the disciples about faith and prayer.

That day in Jerusalem the religious leaders question Jesus’ authority. They also try to trap him in his words. But Jesus astonishes them with his parables and clearly states, “The stone that the builders rejected has become the cornerstone.” (See Psalm 118:22)

He ends with a warning to be ready for his coming and the judgment:

“Therefore stay awake– for you do not know when the master of the house will come, in the evening, or at midnight, or when the rooster crows, or in the morning–lest he come suddenly and find you asleep. And what I say to you I say to all: Stay awake.” – Mark. 13:35-37

Scripture Reading: Mark 11:20-13:37
